How to pick: cough vs runny-nose driven? / ¿Tos o escurrimiento nasal?

If the symptom mix is productive cough + chest congestion, reach for Plus — it has dextromethorphan and guaifenesin. If the symptom mix is runny nose, sneezing, itchy/watery eyes, reach for Ultra — its chlorpheniramine antihistamine handles those better. Both share acetaminophen for fever and body aches, and phenylephrine for nasal congestion.

Match the formula to the symptom mix
Cough + chest congestion → Plus or Severe Cold. Runny nose, sneezing, itchy eyes → Ultra. Headache, fever, body aches, nasal congestion → all three formulas cover these. Tos + flemas → Plus o Severe. Escurrimiento + estornudos → Ultra. Fiebre y dolor de cabeza → cualquiera.

Take with water
Swallow tablets or softgels whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or break. Can be taken with or without food. Tragar enteros con agua. No triturar ni masticar. Puede tomarse con o sin alimentos.

Follow the carton's dosing chart
Refer to the Drug Facts dosing chart on each box. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose. Do not combine COLDTAC products with other acetaminophen-containing products. Consulte la tabla de dosificación. No exceda la dosis diaria. No combine productos con acetaminofén.

Stop after 7 days
Stop use and consult a doctor if symptoms persist or worsen, fever lasts more than 3 days, or new symptoms appear. Suspenda y consulte si los síntomas persisten más de 7 días, la fiebre dura más de 3 días, o aparecen nuevos síntomas.

Before you take it.

  • Liver warning. All COLDTAC products contain acetaminophen. Severe liver damage may occur if you take more than the maximum daily dose, with other drugs containing acetaminophen, or with 3+ alcoholic drinks per day.
  • Allergy alert. Acetaminophen may cause severe skin reactions. Symptoms may include skin reddening, blisters, or rash. If a skin reaction occurs, stop use and seek medical help right away.
  • Do not use with any other product containing acetaminophen, dextromethorphan, phenylephrine, chlorpheniramine, or guaifenesin without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not use if currently taking a prescription MAOI (for depression, psychiatric, or emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease) or for two weeks after stopping.
  • Ultra only: chlorpheniramine may cause drowsiness — do not drive or operate machinery after taking. Avoid alcoholic drinks. May cause excitability in children.
  • Ask a doctor before use if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, diabetes, glaucoma, liver disease, or trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate.
  • If pregnant or breastfeeding, ask a health professional before use.
  • Children under 12 — ask a doctor.
  • Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, contact a Poison Control Center right away (1-800-222-1222), even if you do not notice any signs or symptoms.
